One tranquil day of ease and happiness followed another in quiet succession; and with these unsophisticated barbarians the history of a day was the history of a life. They were not caught up in any of the ancient goings-on which warrant even the briefest of mentions in any of the historical works that survive to this day; nay, they were as unknown to the outside world as it was to them, a fact which certainly does contribute to the brevity of this article. But why would that brevity be a bad thing? Indeed, what has extensive knowledge of a certain species of mankind ever wrought? Nothing, nay, a worse thing yet!
